Leptin receptors: receptors in the brain that read and interpret leptin levels in the blood.

Overview

Leptin is made by fat cells and act as a counter balance to prevent overeating and overproduction of insulin by the pancreas.

When brain receptors glycate, [become coated with blood sugars] they do not function as designed and allow the pancreas to keep on producing insulin and for appetite and overeating to occurs.

Leptin is a satiety hormone that REGULATES insulin production and shuts-down appetite to prevent overeating.  People who overeat or who eat/graze constantly are insulin/leptin-resistant and suffer from glycation of red blood corpuscles and/or brain receptors that regulate the pancreatic production of insulin.

Belly fat is a sign of leptin and/or insulin/leptin resistance and confirmation of Metabolic Syndrome.

Anyone who is insulin-resistant is also leptin resistant.  Obviously, anyone who is diabetic is BOTH insulin-resistant and leptin-resistant.

When blood sugar [glucose] levels maintain between 90-130, you are in a state of pre-diabetes and insulin-resistance.

See glycation in glossary.
